WAIST-LENGTH BRAID GUIDE

How much hair for waist-length knotless braids?

Waist length raises the quantity quickly, but braid size still matters.

Published guidance for waist-length knotless braids commonly rises as the braid size gets smaller because there are more sections and more feed-ins across the head.

Braid sizePublished waist-length range100g-equivalent weight
Jumbo4–5 packs~400–500g
Large5–6 packs~500–600g
Medium6–8 packs~600–800g

Small / XS10–12 packs~1,000–1,200g

Use the table as a baseline, not a prescription

A smaller head with low-density hair and a lightweight tapered finish may fall below a generic range. A larger head, high density and a fuller finish can push upward. The actual grams in the product also matter more than what the manufacturer calls a pack.

What if I want boho waist-length braids?

You need to plan two quantities: the braid base and the separate human-hair curls. First calculate the synthetic/pre-stretched base here, then use the Boho Human Hair Calculator for the loose pieces.

Should I buy one extra pack?

For inexpensive synthetic braiding hair, an unopened backup pack can prevent a mid-install color mismatch. For expensive human hair, it is more sensible to plan to the upper end of the estimate and only buy an extra if your seller accepts returns or your stylist recommends it.
