Why this is a range: braiders vary in how many loose pieces they add per braid and how large each piece is. Human hair texture, draw/fullness and whether curls are added through the ends also change the amount.

THE TWO-CART PROBLEM

Convert by grams

Published guides commonly describe 50g, 100g and other bundle sizes. Grams make those products comparable.

BETTER INPUT

If you know your braid count, use it.

Braid size is only a proxy for how many braids you will have. If your braider plans 52 braids, entering 52 is more useful than simply selecting “medium.” If you leave it blank, HairMetric estimates a braid count using the selected size and your head circumference.

Before you buy the human hair

Does this include the braiding hair too?

No. This calculator is intentionally for the human-hair curls only. Use HairMetric's knotless calculator for the braid base.

Why can two stylists recommend totally different bundle counts?

One stylist may add one small curl piece to every other braid while another adds several pieces to nearly every braid. Bundle weight and how full the human hair is drawn also vary.

Do I need an extra human-hair bundle?

Not automatically. Human hair can be expensive. HairMetric's “planning amount” rounds up to cover the upper end of the estimate; consider an additional unopened backup only when returns are allowed or your stylist recommends it.

What if my pack is 50g instead of 100g?

Enter 50g. The calculator will convert the same total hair estimate into twice as many packs compared with a 100g product.

Calibrated from published boho quantity ranges.

The starting model is anchored around published guidance that standard boho installs often fall around 2–4 100g packs/bundles, while light accent looks can use less and very full or long styles can use substantially more. Length, braid size, head size and curl fullness then modify the estimate conservatively.
