Start with a baseline range
The model starts from published knotless-braid quantity ranges by braid size and finished length, then normalizes the estimate into grams.
Get a planning estimate for knotless braids using the variables that generic “6 packs” answers miss: braid size, finished length, head circumference, natural hair density, desired fullness, and the actual weight of your packs.
Calculate my hairResults are estimates for synthetic/pre-stretched braiding hair. Buy based on grams when possible—“one pack” is not a standard amount.

Head circumference changes the approximate surface area being braided. The adjustment is deliberately modest around an average 22–22.5 inch head.
A 52g pack and a 100g pack are not equivalent. Your package weight is used only after the estimated total hair amount is calculated.
Flatten your hair as much as practical. Use a soft tape measure around your hairline: across the forehead, above the ears, around the back near the nape, and back to your starting point.

Density can change how full the installation needs to look and how a braider distributes extension hair. Because technique varies, HairMetric uses density as a smaller modifier than braid size or finished length.
“Pack” is inconsistent across brands. Some packages contain multiple bundles and total weights vary. Grams let the calculator compare products more consistently.
No. Version 1 estimates the primary synthetic/pre-stretched braiding hair for knotless braids. A separate boho human-hair add-on calculator is planned because that is a different quantity problem.
If you can return an unopened extra pack and exact color matching matters, buying to the upper end is safer. If minimizing weight is your priority, discuss the lower end with your braider.
HairMetric starts from published braid-quantity guidance, converts recommendations into grams, and then applies conservative adjustments for head circumference, natural density and desired fullness. The assumptions and reference material are documented separately so the calculator can improve as better data becomes available.
